In Freedom Planet 2, the robotic AI gets kidnapped from the Avain Museum by the likes of Aaa and his employer, Corazon. Both Lilac and Pangu then set off to the Battle Glacier where Lilac rides the Holodragon towards Brevon's army, and an aerial showdown with Syntax. After Lilac gives the Pangu a swift kick, the robot explains the history of the Dragon Scientists to Lilac as well as the Kingdom Stone's origins. She then notices the damaged Pangu and tries to access the robot's files for information.
When Lilac is sent to investigate the area, she eventually reaches the depths of the inner chamber where she battles and defeats the Holodragon. Since then, the robot has been residing within the caverns of Pangu Lagoon ever since. Pangu was built by the ancient Dragon Scientists over a hundred years ago. Pangu is able to project a Giant, lifelike dragon called the Holodragon. The arms also seem more "wavy", and the tips have more detail. The robot now has more visible red wires (some replacing the gray connecting shoulder joints) and no longer has the two red lights behind the "eye". Pangu's appearance slightly changes in Freedom Planet 2. The large blue head in some way resembles the Kingdom Stone, likely due to both having the same creator(s). The longer the Tao Trail is, the more shards the player will earn.Pangu is a hovering mid-sized white Squid-like robot with two tentacle arms and one large "eye".
Lilac is thrown headfirst into the struggle against Lord Brevon when a strange creature falls from the sky asking for her help. Once the timer runs out, all the Tao Marks on the trail will transform into Crystal Shards. Main Characters Sash Lilac VOICED BY DAWN M. When the player passes through one of these rings, a bonus timer will begin, and the player will be able to earn bonus Crystal Shards by leaving behind a trail of Tao marks. Speed Gates are rainbow-colored rings with a similar appearance to the Time Gates from Pangu Lagoon. WARNING: Reviving doesn't work if the character's body has been disintegrated. This also grants a few seconds of invincibility.

When the character has been defeated, the player is given two options for revival return to the last checkpoint at full health or immediately get back up at zero health unless certain health-related items are equipped. Revivals are another new gameplay mechanic included in Freedom Planet 2.
Milla: Instantly spawns her Phantom Cubes.Carol: Summons or Store her Motorcycle after using her new Jump Disc.This new mechanic also has a secondary action for each Playable Character: The technique will not fully reflect damage from larger or more powerful attacks however, it will reduce the amount of damage if properly timed. By tapping a dedicated button, the player can avoid a certain amount of damage from incoming enemy attacks. Guarding is a new gameplay mechanic introduced in Freedom Planet 2.

Although some items can be found for free in the stages, the player is given the option to pay extra for convenience. Between both variants of the shops, the player can buy items, Music Vinyls and even Gold Gems. Contrast to the Universal Shop is the Quick Shop, a feature exclusive to Adventure Mode that allows the player to conveniently access any previously visited shops from the World Map without the need to travel to said shop.
